Breanna D. Brock, MA, is a Ph.D. Candidate in Sociology at Stony Brook University.

Her work broadly focuses on the construction of race and ethnicity, Black racial identity, health, and migration. More specifically, she explores racial identity in African Americans and 1st and 2nd-generation Black immigrants from West Africa and the Caribbean. In addition, she examines how nativity and experiences of racial discrimination impact self-identification and mental health outcomes.

Breanna is also the founder of the food and wellness site PlantBasedBre.com. Breanna combines her love for research and passion for wellness through her online work of creating a safe space for Black and other POC to improve their mental, spiritual, and physical health. This online community was created to educate, encourage, and empower others to think differently about plant-based eating. Too often, a plant-forward diet is framed as something inaccessible. This community was built to show others a different take on plant-based eating, an approach that centers intuitive eating while respecting and honoring the comfort foods of Black American cuisine.

Breanna lives, writes, and creates in the NYC metro area. She’s available to travel for speaking engagements and guest lectures throughout the United States and abroad.
